SchemaSentry
SchemaSentry monitors database schema changes across environments (dev/stage/prod) and flags risky drift before deployments or migrations cause outages. It connects to Postgres/MySQL (initially) and continuously snapshots schema metadata, then compares it against a declared baseline (from migrations, DDL exports, or a Git-tracked schema file). When it detects breaking changes—dropped columns, type changes, missing indexes, constraint changes—it generates a plain-English impact report and a rollout checklist. It also enforces lightweight policies (e.g., “no dropping columns without a deprecation window”) and can post alerts to Slack with links to diffs. This is not a full data catalog or heavy governance suite; it’s a focused guardrail for teams moving fast and accidentally breaking downstream services, BI dashboards, or ETL jobs. MVP should prioritize reliability, low setup friction, and actionable alerts over fancy dashboards.
