SchemaSentry

SchemaSentry is a web app (with optional desktop connector) that continuously audits library/archive catalog metadata for schema drift, bad mappings, and silent quality regressions across MARC, Dublin Core, MODS, EAD, and local fields. Instead of being yet another editor, it plugs into your existing ILS/LSP or repository exports (OAI-PMH, CSV, MARCXML, APIs) and runs scheduled checks: field presence, controlled vocabulary compliance, identifier validity (ISBN/ISSN/DOI/ARK), date normalization, language codes, and crosswalk consistency. It produces a prioritized “breakage” queue with concrete fixes, impact estimates (records affected, discovery facets impacted), and exportable remediation files for batch updates. A lightweight AI component can suggest likely mappings and normalization rules, but the core value is deterministic validation, reporting, and workflow tracking that teams can trust and audit. It’s realistic for small metadata teams that can’t afford enterprise data quality tooling.
