ScopeScout

ScopeScout is a mobile + web app that predicts whether a planned observing session will be worth doing, based on your exact location, telescope, camera, and targets. Instead of generic “clear sky” forecasts, it converts weather and atmospheric conditions into practical outcomes: expected limiting magnitude, seeing quality, transparency, wind risk, dew likelihood, and a simple “go/no-go” score per target. You build a gear profile (aperture, focal length, mount type) and a target list (planets, DSOs, comets). The app then recommends the best time windows, exposure ranges for common cameras, and whether you’ll be fighting haze or turbulence. It also logs outcomes so predictions improve over time for your microclimate. This is not magic: it won’t create clear skies, but it will stop you wasting nights hauling gear outside for mediocre results.
