ScriptCensus
ScriptCensus is a web app (with optional desktop CLI) that scans fonts, documents, and UI strings to detect writing-system breakages: missing glyphs, wrong script coverage, bidi issues, combining-mark collisions, and Unicode confusables that cause security or localization bugs. You upload a font file or point it at a repo, and it produces a clear coverage report by script/language, highlights risky codepoints, and generates reproducible test strings for QA across platforms. It also flags “looks right but is wrong” problems (e.g., Cyrillic vs Latin homoglyphs, incorrect normalization, broken shaping in complex scripts) and suggests fixes: font fallback stacks, OpenType feature checks, and safer character sets for product copy. This is not a consumer toy; it’s a practical tool for teams shipping multilingual products who keep getting surprised by text rendering failures in production.
