SeatScout

SeatScout is a mobile + web app that helps travelers choose the best seat before they board—based on real, route-specific crowding patterns and user-submitted seat notes. Users pick a route (e.g., “NYC to Boston train,” “airport express bus,” “overnight ferry”), then see a simple seat map or carriage guidance: quiet zones, power outlets, luggage space, window views, motion-sickness risk, bathroom proximity, and which cars tend to be emptier at different times. It’s not a booking app; it’s a decision layer that works alongside existing tickets. The app rewards contributors with perks like ad-free access or premium insights. It also supports offline “station mode” so you can quickly see where to stand on the platform to board near your preferred carriage. Realistically, coverage starts in a few high-traffic corridors and expands city-by-city with community and partnerships.
