SeatSignal
SeatSignal predicts rail car crowding and seat availability by combining official GTFS-realtime feeds (when available) with passive rider reports and lightweight on-device sensing (e.g., motion + dwell time patterns). It shows a simple “best car to board” recommendation per station: front/middle/back, plus a confidence score and how fast conditions change. The app focuses on commuter rail and metro systems where platform positioning matters and trains are long enough for meaningful load differences. It also provides alerts like “next train likely packed—wait 6 minutes for relief” and “board at rear for faster exit at your destination.” Realistically, accuracy will vary by city and time of day; the product wins by being directionally correct and transparent about uncertainty rather than pretending to be perfect. Mobile app with a small web dashboard for agencies/partners.
