SegmentSleuth

SegmentSleuth is a web + mobile AI app that makes TV news and current-affairs searchable at the segment level, not the full episode level. It ingests publicly available program metadata and licensed transcripts (where available), then lets users search by topic, person, quote, or claim and jump directly to the relevant 30–120 second clip. It also builds a “story thread” view that groups how different networks covered the same event across days, with quick side-by-side playback and transcript highlighting. The realistic value is time saved: journalists, researchers, and politically engaged viewers waste hours scrubbing long broadcasts or relying on incomplete YouTube uploads. SegmentSleuth won’t “solve misinformation,” but it will make verification and comparison dramatically faster. Monetization is straightforward: a freemium tier for casual users and paid seats for newsrooms, universities, and PR/comms teams.
