SermonSieve

SermonSieve is a web + mobile app that checks theological writing (sermons, Bible studies, blog posts, newsletters) for citation accuracy and context drift. Paste a manuscript or upload a doc, and it flags: misquoted verses, wrong references, cherry-picked prooftexts, and quotes attributed to the wrong church father or theologian. It then shows the surrounding context, multiple translations, and a short “what this passage is doing” note with links to reputable sources. The goal isn’t to police doctrine; it’s to reduce embarrassing errors and improve intellectual honesty. The MVP focuses on Bible references and common patristic/creedal quotes; later versions expand to denominational standards and academic commentaries. Realistically, this wins only if it’s faster than manual checking and trusted enough that pastors actually use it before publishing.
