ShadeScan

ShadeScan is a mobile + web app that helps homeowners and small solar installers quickly estimate how much rooftop shading will hurt solar production—before paying for a full site survey. Users take a short guided video sweep of their roofline and surrounding obstructions (trees, chimneys, neighboring buildings). The app builds a simple 3D obstruction model, combines it with sun-path data for the address, and outputs a monthly shading-loss estimate and a “worth it / not worth it” confidence score. It also generates a shareable report for installers or landlords, including suggested panel zones and the top shading culprits. This is not a replacement for professional design software; it’s a fast pre-qualification tool to avoid wasted sales calls and prevent homeowners from buying systems that underperform due to shade.
