ShadeScore
ShadeScore is a mobile + web AI app that helps cities and consultants quantify pedestrian comfort block-by-block using heat, shade, wind, and sidewalk geometry. Users capture short street walks (phone video + GPS) or upload existing imagery, and the app generates a “comfort map” with problem hotspots (unshaded crossings, heat islands, missing trees, narrow sidewalks, long exposure segments). It outputs simple, defensible metrics (minutes of sun exposure, estimated radiant heat risk, shade coverage by hour/season) and suggests interventions with rough order-of-magnitude cost ranges (trees, shade structures, curb extensions, material changes). The goal is not pretty renderings—it’s fast, comparable evidence to prioritize projects and justify grants. Expect messy data and imperfect predictions; the product wins by being consistent, transparent, and easy to audit rather than pretending to be perfectly accurate.
