ShadeScout

ShadeScout is a mobile AI shopping assistant that helps users find accurate complexion-product matches (foundation, concealer, tinted moisturizer) across multiple retailers. Users take a short guided selfie video in natural light, answer a few questions (undertone, skin type, coverage), and optionally scan a current product they own. The app outputs a ranked list of shade matches with confidence scores, oxidation warnings, and “closest alternatives” when a shade is out of stock. It also flags likely irritants based on a user’s sensitivity profile and compares price-per-ml across stores. Brutal reality: shade matching is hard, returns are expensive, and incumbents exist—so this only works if accuracy is measurably better and retailer coverage is broad enough to be useful. Monetization comes from affiliate revenue, sponsored placements (clearly labeled), and a small premium tier for advanced profiles and routine tracking.
