ShelfPing

ShelfPing is a mobile + web app that reduces the most common library frustration: “Is it actually available, and where is it?” Patrons search across participating libraries, then get a real-time confidence score for availability (based on recent checkouts, holds velocity, and branch patterns) and a precise in-branch location when the library supports it (aisle/section/call-number range). For libraries without indoor mapping, ShelfPing still improves pickup by generating a “best branch” recommendation and offering a one-tap reserve flow. Staff get a lightweight web dashboard that batches daily pull lists, flags likely-missing items, and lets them mark items as found/not found to improve future predictions. It’s not a magical replacement for ILS systems; it’s a focused layer that makes discovery-to-pickup faster, reduces failed holds, and cuts staff time wasted on fruitless shelf hunts.
