ShelfProof
ShelfProof is a web app (with an optional lightweight desktop agent) that continuously audits institutional repositories and digital library collections for metadata quality, link rot, and policy compliance. It connects to common platforms (DSpace, Fedora/Islandora, Omeka, EPrints) and runs scheduled checks: missing required fields, invalid identifiers (DOI/ORCID/ISBN), broken file URLs, embargo/date inconsistencies, duplicate records, and schema drift. It produces actionable reports, prioritized fix queues, and exportable remediation CSVs for staff workflows. An AI-assisted module suggests field-level corrections (e.g., normalizing author names, inferring language, mapping keywords to controlled vocabularies) but always requires human approval. The goal is not to “search better,” but to reduce the unglamorous operational debt that quietly destroys discoverability and trust over time.
