ShelfSense

ShelfSense is a mobile + web app that helps households keep pantry staples stocked with minimal effort. Instead of trying to “track everything,” it focuses on 30–80 repeat-buy essentials (rice, pasta, oil, cereal, coffee, spices, pet food) and learns your real consumption pace. Users add items via quick barcode scan or store-receipt import, then set a preferred “always-have” quantity (e.g., 2 jars of peanut butter). The app predicts run-out dates, sends low-friction reminders, and generates a short, store-agnostic restock list that can be exported to any grocery app. It also flags “silent stockouts” (items you forget until you need them) by prompting lightweight monthly check-ins for a few categories. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional inventory rules plus AI to infer usage rates from sparse data and receipts.
