ShelfTruth

ShelfTruth is a mobile + web AI app for retail managers and field reps to verify planogram compliance, pricing accuracy, and promo execution using quick shelf photos. A store associate or merchandiser walks an aisle, snaps 3–10 photos, and the system detects missing facings, wrong product placement, out-of-stocks, incorrect price labels, and untagged promotions. It then produces a simple task list (e.g., “Move SKU X to bay 3, shelf 2,” “Replace price label for SKU Y,” “Restock SKU Z”) and a time-stamped compliance report that can be shared with brand partners. Brutal reality: this space is crowded and incumbents exist, so the app only works if it’s faster, cheaper, and less annoying than current audits. The MVP should focus on one narrow wedge: small-to-mid retailers (10–300 stores) and CPG field teams who can’t justify enterprise platforms. The product must handle messy real-world shelves (glare, partial occlusion, seasonal resets) and still provide “good enough” accuracy with human-in-the-loop review. If accuracy is poor, users will abandon it immediately.
