ShiftShield

ShiftShield is a mobile + web app that helps working parents and employers secure last-minute backup childcare when plans fall apart (sitter cancels, school closes, kid is mildly sick, etc.). It focuses on speed and reliability: parents post a time window, location, child needs, and any constraints; the app returns a short list of available, pre-vetted caregivers who can arrive within a defined SLA. Employers can sponsor credits, set eligibility rules, and get anonymized utilization reporting. An AI layer helps match based on caregiver history, commute time, child needs, and parent preferences, while also auto-generating clear care instructions and checklists. This is not a “marketplace for everyone”; it’s a tightly scoped backup-care product with strict verification, cancellation penalties, and operational guardrails. Realistically, success depends on building supply density in a few metro areas before expanding.
