ShrinkSense helps consumers detect “shrinkflation” and hidden inflation by tracking both price and package size for the products they actually buy. Users scan receipts (or forward email receipts) and optionally scan barcodes; the app normalizes unit prices (per oz/ml/count) and flags when a product’s size drops or effective unit price jumps, even if the shelf price looks unchanged. It builds a personal inflation dashboard: your real grocery inflation rate, categories driving it, and cheaper equivalent swaps at nearby stores. The hard truth: retailer data is messy and incomplete, so the app focuses on what it can verify—your receipts and crowdsourced package-size changes—rather than pretending it has perfect national coverage. Monetization is a subscription for advanced alerts, household budgeting exports, and deal/swap recommendations.
