SidewalkFix

SidewalkFix is a mobile + web app that lets people quickly report mobility hazards—broken curb ramps, blocked sidewalks, missing crosswalk paint, potholes in bike lanes, snow/ice obstructions—with precise location, photos, and severity. The app auto-routes reports to the correct city/agency using GIS boundaries, generates a clean work-order style summary, and tracks status updates in one place. It also shows a “safe route” overlay that avoids recently reported hazards for walkers, wheelchair users, and cyclists. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI helps classify the issue from photos, deduplicate duplicate reports, and prioritize by risk (e.g., near schools, hospitals, transit stops). The hard truth: cities move slowly and won’t pay big upfront; the product must prove it reduces call center load and improves maintenance triage to get adopted.
