SignalGuard

SignalGuard is a web + mobile operations app for Bus Rapid Transit agencies to detect, explain, and resolve Transit Signal Priority (TSP) failures that quietly destroy travel-time reliability. It ingests real-time bus locations (GTFS-realtime/AVL), schedule data (GTFS), and intersection controller/TSP logs (when available) to flag where buses are repeatedly stopping at “priority” intersections, where requests aren’t being sent, or where green extensions aren’t granted. Instead of generic on-time dashboards, it produces intersection-level incident tickets with likely root causes (bad geofence, wrong approach mapping, radio dropouts, controller misconfig, time-of-day plan conflicts) and a clear “who to call” workflow between transit and traffic departments. The MVP focuses on a handful of corridors and prioritizes actionable alerts over pretty maps. It’s not magic: if a city won’t share signal data, insights are limited—but even AVL-only detection can expose chronic problem intersections quickly.
