SignalSentry

SignalSentry is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for cities and traffic contractors to detect failing or mis-timed traffic signals using low-cost data they already have: controller logs (when available), crowdsourced speed traces, and citizen reports. It flags likely issues like stuck detectors, broken pedestrian buttons, offset drift, and abnormal cycle lengths by comparing each intersection’s current behavior to its own historical baseline and nearby corridors. Instead of a generic dashboard, it produces a prioritized maintenance queue with confidence scores, suggested root causes, and the exact time windows the anomaly started. The MVP focuses on a small pilot area (50–200 intersections) and integrates with one common signal controller export format plus a simple 311 intake. This is not a magic “fix congestion” product; it’s a pragmatic reliability tool that reduces complaints, emergency callouts, and wasted technician time.
