SilkSwitch
SilkSwitch is a mobile + web marketplace for high-end shoppers who regret a purchase but don’t want the friction, fees, and lowballing of resale. Instead of listing items publicly, users request a “switch”: they select what they bought, what they want instead, and acceptable conditions (new, like-new, with box, etc.). The app matches them with other users and partner boutiques willing to facilitate a trade-in plus top-up payment. For boutiques, it’s a customer-retention tool: they acquire inventory and close a new sale with minimal discounting. The MVP focuses on a narrow set of categories (handbags, sneakers, watches) and a few metro areas to keep logistics manageable. Verification is pragmatic: photo-guided condition checks, receipt/serial capture, and optional in-person partner drop-off. This is not magic—liquidity is the hard part—so the product is built around constrained supply, local matching, and boutique incentives.
