SnackSafe

SnackSafe helps parents and kids quickly check whether a packaged snack is safe for common allergens and dietary restrictions. You scan a barcode, choose a child profile (e.g., peanut allergy, dairy-free, gluten-free), and the app flags risky ingredients and “may contain” statements in plain language. It also stores a short “safe list” of approved snacks and a “do not buy” list for each child, which is useful for grandparents, babysitters, and school events. A simple share link lets caregivers see the child’s restrictions and approved items without needing to log in. This is not a medical device and won’t replace reading labels, but it reduces mistakes when you’re rushed in a store aisle. The MVP focuses on accuracy for major allergens, fast scanning, and caregiver sharing.
