SnapshotSentry

SnapshotSentry is a web app plus lightweight on-prem agent that discovers, inventories, and enforces policies for VM snapshots across VMware vSphere and Proxmox clusters. It flags risky snapshots (too old, too large, orphaned, or on low-free datastore), estimates performance impact, and ties each snapshot to an owner, ticket, and expiration date. The app can auto-remediate by scheduling deletions during safe windows, throttling consolidation, and notifying owners via Slack/Teams with one-click approval flows. It also exports compliance evidence (who created what, why, and when it was removed) for audits. This is a traditional app with optional AI assistance to summarize risk, draft change requests, and recommend cleanup windows based on historical I/O patterns. Realistically, the product lives or dies on rock-solid discovery accuracy and safe deletion workflows—no one will tolerate false positives or risky automation.
