SoilSignal

SoilSignal is a mobile + web app that turns scattered soil data into actionable irrigation and fieldwork decisions. It pulls satellite-derived soil moisture estimates, recent precipitation, evapotranspiration, and basic soil texture layers, then lets users calibrate with a few cheap in-field readings (or none). The app outputs simple maps and alerts: “too wet to plant,” “irrigate within 48 hours,” and “compaction risk high.” It’s not a magic sensor replacement—satellite resolution and cloud cover can be limiting—so the product is honest about confidence levels and shows uncertainty. The MVP focuses on a few regions/crops to avoid overpromising. Revenue comes from subscriptions for farms and agronomy consultants, plus a lightweight API tier for ag retailers. The goal is fewer wasted irrigation passes and fewer bad-timing field operations.
