SolarShift

SolarShift helps households and small businesses shift flexible electricity use (EV charging, water heating, laundry, HVAC pre-cooling) to hours when the grid is cleaner and often cheaper. The app pulls local grid carbon-intensity and renewable-availability signals, plus weather forecasts that influence wind/solar output, then recommends simple schedules and automations. Users set their devices, comfort constraints, and “do-not-run” windows; SolarShift produces a daily plan and sends notifications or triggers smart plugs/chargers where supported. It also shows a clear impact view: estimated CO2 avoided, cost difference, and how much load was shifted. This is not a magic bill-cutter—savings depend heavily on time-of-use rates and device flexibility—but it gives practical, measurable actions without needing rooftop solar. MVP focuses on a few high-impact devices and a limited set of regions with reliable grid data.
