SoundSprout

SoundSprout is a mobile app (with an optional web dashboard) that builds early literacy by training phonemic awareness—the skill most parents want to help with but don’t know how to teach. Kids play 2–4 minute voice-and-tap games: rhyme match, first/last sound, blend-and-build, and “sound swap” (cat→cap). The app listens to the child’s spoken responses, gives immediate feedback, and adapts difficulty. For adults, it generates a simple daily plan and shows whether the child is improving or guessing. It’s not a full reading curriculum; it’s a targeted practice tool that fits into real life. Content is aligned to common early literacy progressions and works for ages 3–6, including many pre-readers. Offline mode and minimal typing keep it usable for families without perfect connectivity or patience.
