SoundSteps
SoundSteps is a mobile app (iOS/Android) that helps parents build early language skills through 5-minute, play-based routines focused on sounds, vocabulary, and simple sentences. It uses the phone’s microphone to listen during guided activities (e.g., “say /b/ like ‘ball’,” “name three kitchen things,” “tell me what the dog is doing”) and gives immediate, kid-friendly feedback plus parent-facing tips. The app adapts difficulty based on performance and flags patterns that may warrant a professional evaluation (without pretending to diagnose). It also supports bilingual households by letting parents choose a primary language and a secondary exposure language, while keeping expectations realistic. The goal is not to replace speech therapy; it’s to provide consistent, structured practice that most families struggle to do on their own, and to make progress visible with simple weekly summaries.
