SourceSift
SourceSift is a web app + browser extension that helps users verify viral claims by mapping them to their earliest reachable sources and showing how the claim changed along the way. Paste a tweet, headline, TikTok caption, or URL; SourceSift extracts the core claim, finds the original publication (or closest available), and displays a timeline of reposts, edits, and context loss. It assigns a “traceability score” (how directly the claim links to primary evidence) rather than pretending to be the ultimate truth judge. The app also flags common manipulation patterns: cropped screenshots, quote-without-link, missing denominators in stats, and misleading charts. It’s an AI-assisted tool, but it’s designed to be conservative: it highlights uncertainty, shows citations, and lets users inspect the chain of evidence. Monetization is aimed at teams (newsrooms, comms, educators) who need repeatable workflows, not casual users who won’t pay.
