SourceSift
SourceSift is a web app + browser extension that helps journalists, creators, and researchers verify media claims by tracing them back to primary sources. Paste a quote, screenshot text, or a link and it builds a “source trail”: earliest known appearance, repost chain, and the best-matching original documents (press releases, transcripts, court filings, datasets, or full interviews). It flags common manipulation patterns like cropped screenshots, quote truncation, and missing context, then generates a short verification brief with citations you can publish. It’s an AI-assisted workflow, but it forces evidence: every conclusion must be backed by a clickable source, and uncertain items are labeled as such. The goal isn’t to be a truth oracle; it’s to reduce time wasted chasing viral misinformation and to make your fact-checking process auditable.
