SourceSifter
SourceSifter is a web + desktop companion app (traditional + AI) that helps historians and local researchers manage evidence, not just citations. You upload PDFs, photos of documents, and typed notes, then the app extracts key entities (people, places, dates), suggests standardized metadata, and builds a “claim board” where each claim must be backed by at least one source snippet. It generates a transparent audit trail: where each fact came from, what the original wording was, and how confident the extraction is. The goal isn’t to replace scholarship; it’s to reduce the boring, error-prone work of organizing sources and preventing accidental misattribution. Exports include Chicago-style citations, a source inventory spreadsheet, and a shareable read-only project link for collaborators or reviewers. It also flags likely duplicates and conflicting dates across sources so you catch problems early.
