SourceTrace
SourceTrace is a web + desktop companion that verifies whether a paper’s claims are actually supported by the cited sources. Users upload a manuscript (DOCX/PDF) and a Zotero/BibTeX library, then SourceTrace pulls PDFs (where available), extracts the cited passages, and flags mismatches: wrong page numbers, quotation inaccuracies, over-claiming, and citations that don’t contain the asserted result. It generates a “citation audit” report with links to the exact source snippets and suggested fixes (e.g., swap citation, soften claim, add missing citation). This is an AI-assisted app, but it stays conservative: it only marks “supported” when it can point to text evidence. It’s not a reference manager replacement; it’s a QA layer for submissions, labs, and journals trying to reduce embarrassing citation errors and rework cycles.
