SpareSpot

SpareSpot is a mobile + web app that lets commuters reserve (or at least verify) park-and-ride availability before they commit to the drive. It combines three signals: agency-provided lot counts (when available), crowdsourced check-ins, and lightweight computer-vision occupancy estimates from optional, low-cost cameras installed by partner lots. The app shows a simple “confidence meter” for each lot so users understand when data is reliable versus a guess. It also suggests the next-best lot and transit departure if the primary lot is trending full. Brutal reality: without partnerships and data access, this becomes another unreliable parking map. The MVP focuses on a single metro area, a handful of lots, and strong commuter routines (weekday peaks), proving accuracy and retention before expanding.
