SpecGuard
SpecGuard is an AI-assisted computer vision QA app for small and mid-sized manufacturers who can’t justify Cognex-level budgets. It uses a phone or cheap USB camera to verify presence/absence, orientation, and basic cosmetic defects on assembly lines (connectors seated, labels applied, screws present, correct part variant). Users create an inspection “recipe” by capturing a few reference images and drawing simple regions of interest; the system then runs real-time checks and flags failures with annotated images and a clear pass/fail reason. It logs every inspection with timestamps, operator, and batch/lot info, producing audit-friendly reports for customers and ISO-style documentation. It’s not magic: it won’t replace high-end metrology or handle wildly variable lighting without setup. But for repetitive checks and preventing costly escapes, it’s a practical, affordable step up from manual inspection.
