SpecSleuth is a web + mobile app that helps residential builders and remodelers prevent costly “green building” mistakes by validating plans, product submittals, and site photos against a chosen standard (e.g., ENERGY STAR, Passive House, local stretch codes). Users upload PDFs (drawings/specs), select a compliance checklist, and the app flags missing details like air-sealing notes, insulation continuity, window U-factors, ventilation sizing, and thermal-bridge risks. On-site, crews snap photos of critical assemblies (rim joists, penetrations, attic hatches) and the app prompts what to capture and what to fix before drywall. It outputs a punch-list and a simple compliance packet for the homeowner and verifier. This is not a full energy modeler; it’s a practical “did we actually build what we claimed?” tool focused on reducing rework and failed inspections.
