SpecSleuth

SpecSleuth is a web + mobile app that helps shoppers buy laptops and desktops without getting misled by confusing model numbers, outdated CPUs, and “deal” pricing tricks. It ingests listings from major retailers and marketplaces, normalizes specs (CPU generation, GPU tier, RAM type/speed, screen quality, battery size), and scores each device against your actual needs (school, coding, gaming, creator, office). It flags common gotchas like single-channel RAM, low-color-gamut panels, soldered storage, weak cooling, and inflated MSRPs. You can set alerts for “true price drops” based on historical pricing and comparable models, not just the same SKU. The AI layer explains tradeoffs in plain language and recommends 2–3 best-value options, but the core value is the cleaned, comparable spec database and honest scoring.
