SpecSnap
SpecSnap is a web + desktop app that converts the chaos of open-hardware development into publishable documentation. Makers and small teams often have CAD files, photos, chat logs, and half-finished README notes scattered everywhere, which makes it painful to release a reproducible build. SpecSnap ingests a project folder (images, STEP/STL, KiCad exports, markdown, BOM CSVs) and guides users through a structured “release checklist” to produce a consistent documentation package: assembly steps, tool list, calibration notes, BOM, and a release-ready repo layout. It also tracks what changed between releases and flags missing essentials (license file, source files, required attributions, manufacturing notes). It’s not magic: users still need to verify outputs, but it drastically reduces the time from “working prototype” to “someone else can build it.”
