SpecSub

SpecSub is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that helps contractors, estimators, and architects quickly identify compliant substitution options when specified construction materials are unavailable, delayed, or over budget. Users upload a spec section, submittal requirements, or a product data sheet; the app extracts key constraints (standards, fire rating, VOC limits, thickness, warranty, region approvals) and searches a curated database of manufacturer data and public certifications. It outputs a short list of substitutes with a side-by-side compliance matrix, missing-info flags, and a ready-to-send substitution request package (RFI/submittal draft plus attachments checklist). This is an AI + traditional app: AI handles document parsing and constraint matching, while deterministic rules enforce code/standard checks. It won’t magically “guarantee approval”—it reduces rework and speeds decisions with transparent evidence.
