SpectraScout

SpectraScout is a web + desktop app that helps planetary science students and researchers quickly interpret publicly available rover/orbiter spectral data (e.g., Mars CRISM, rover LIBS/Raman where available) without wrestling with brittle scripts and scattered documentation. Users upload or select a dataset, run standardized preprocessing (baseline correction, smoothing, continuum removal), and compare against curated reference libraries to generate ranked mineral candidates with confidence scores and caveats. It produces publication-ready plots, exports reproducible workflows, and logs every parameter choice for methods sections. This is an AI-assisted app: AI helps suggest preprocessing settings and highlights likely spectral features, but the core outputs remain transparent and editable. Realistically, it won’t replace expert interpretation; it’s a time-saver and a teaching tool that reduces the “weeks to first plot” problem and lowers the barrier to working with real mission data.
