SpendFreeze
SpendFreeze is a mobile app (with a lightweight web dashboard) that helps people avoid sliding into credit card debt by forcing a short “cool-off” workflow on risky purchases. You connect your bank/credit accounts, set a monthly “no-debt” plan, and define triggers (e.g., any non-essential purchase over $60, late-night spending, or when utilization crosses 25%). When a trigger hits, the app immediately prompts a 60–180 second pause: it shows the real cost if carried on a card (interest + payoff time), asks you to pick a funding source (cash category, delay 24 hours, or cancel), and optionally pings an accountability buddy. It’s not magic—people can still ignore it—but it reliably interrupts impulse spending and makes the debt tradeoff painfully explicit. The app focuses on behavior change and guardrails, not budgeting spreadsheets.
