SpendSentry

SpendSentry is a web app (with optional Slack/Teams bot) for cloud spend governance that blocks bad cost decisions at the source: infrastructure pull requests and provisioning workflows. It plugs into Terraform/CloudFormation pipelines and enforces budget, tagging, region, instance-family, and commitment-policy rules before resources are created. Teams get a clear “cost diff” on every change, plus an approval workflow for exceptions with time-bound waivers. Finance gets auditable controls: who approved what, why, and what it cost versus budget. It’s an AI-assisted app: it auto-suggests policy rules from historical spend anomalies and recommends safer alternatives (e.g., right-sized instance types, reserved/committed usage alignment) but keeps humans in control. Realistically, it won’t replace FinOps tools; it complements them by preventing waste rather than just reporting it after the fact.
