SpiceLedger

SpiceLedger is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that helps home cooks and small kitchens manage spices like inventory, not guesswork. You scan a barcode or label (OCR) to log a spice, then the app estimates a realistic “best flavor by” window based on spice type, form (whole/ground), storage conditions, and purchase/open dates. It nudges you when a spice is likely stale, suggests simple recipes to use up near-expiry items, and generates a shopping list that avoids duplicates. The app also supports quick “smell test” notes and potency ratings so you learn what actually lasts in your kitchen. This is not glamorous, and many users won’t care—but the ones who do will save money, reduce clutter, and get more consistent cooking results. Monetization: freemium with a small annual plan for unlimited items, multi-household sharing, and export.
