SpiceProof

SpiceProof is a mobile app that helps home cooks stop wasting money on stale, duplicate spices and fix bland meals caused by dead seasonings. You scan a jar’s barcode or snap the label, then log opened date, storage location, and form (whole/ground). The app uses a simple freshness model (not magic) based on spice type, grind, and time since opening, and it nudges you with “use-it-now” recipes that match what’s fading soon. It also creates a clean, shareable pantry list for shopping, with duplicate detection (e.g., paprika vs smoked paprika) and a “minimum viable restock” list to avoid overbuying. It’s realistic: it won’t claim it can smell your cumin through the camera. The value is organization, reminders, and reducing repeat purchases—especially for people with 30+ spices.
