SpillSense

SpillSense is a mobile + web app for communities and field workers to report, verify, and track local pollution incidents (oil sheens, illegal dumping, fish kills, sewage overflows, smoke events). Users submit a geo-tagged report with photos/video and a short checklist; the system auto-extracts key details, estimates severity, and routes the report to the correct agency contact list and local watershed/NGO groups. A public map shows verified incidents, status updates, and response timelines, while a private workspace helps municipalities and NGOs triage, de-duplicate, and document evidence for enforcement or cleanup. The app focuses on “small but frequent” events that rarely get captured in official datasets, creating a defensible, time-stamped record. It’s realistic: it won’t “solve pollution,” but it can shorten detection-to-response time and make follow-up visible.
