SpinSpec

SpinSpec is a mobile + web app for coaches, leagues, and facilities to quickly check whether balls (baseballs, softballs, soccer balls, basketballs) are within basic spec and still “game-ready.” Using a phone camera and a simple low-cost calibration card, it guides users through a short test: circumference/diameter estimation, bounce consistency, surface wear scoring, and (where applicable) a spin/roll symmetry check. Results create a timestamped “ready” certificate per ball batch, plus a retirement recommendation when performance drifts. It also tracks inventory by batch/lot and usage hours so teams stop mixing in dead balls that change play. This is not lab-grade metrology; it’s a pragmatic, repeatable field check that reduces disputes, improves consistency, and saves money by retiring balls at the right time instead of too early or too late.
