SpoilerShield is a mobile app plus browser extension that automatically hides spoilers for streaming originals across social feeds, YouTube thumbnails, news sites, and even group chats. Users pick the shows they’re watching and how strict they want filtering (hide keywords, blur images, mute certain accounts, or delay trending topics). It works by scanning on-screen text (OCR), page text, captions, and post metadata, then applying real-time redaction or blur. It also offers a “safe recap” mode that summarizes prior episodes without revealing future plot points, and a one-tap “I watched it” toggle to remove protection. This is an AI-assisted app: lightweight on-device models handle fast detection, while optional cloud processing improves accuracy for images and memes. Realistically, perfect spoiler detection is impossible, but reducing 80% of spoilers is still valuable.
