StackWeed

StackWeed is a web app (with optional desktop barcode-scanner companion) that helps libraries identify and act on low-value, duplicate, outdated, or never-circulating items—without pretending to “solve” collection development. It connects to common ILS/LSP systems via SIP2/NCIP and scheduled exports, then generates defensible weeding candidates using transparent rules (age, circ history, holds-to-copy ratio, condition notes, local interest flags). Staff can batch-review lists, add notes, and produce pull lists, discard/donation manifests, and board-ready reports. It also tracks outcomes: time saved, shelf space reclaimed, and post-weed hold/circ changes. This is not a patron-facing discovery layer; it’s a pragmatic operations tool for overworked staff who already live in spreadsheets. Realistically, sales will be slow and procurement-heavy, so the product must be easy to pilot with minimal IT involvement.
