StapleScout

StapleScout is a mobile + web app that prevents “out of rice/coffee/toilet paper” moments by learning your household’s staple consumption and creating a simple, store-agnostic reorder plan. You scan receipts (email, PDF, or photo) and optionally connect retailer accounts; the app estimates run-out dates for a short list of staples (20–50 items max) and sends a weekly “buy list” with price comparisons across nearby stores and online options. It avoids the fantasy of perfect inventory tracking: no barcode-by-barcode logging, no forcing you to record every spoonful. Instead, it focuses on repeatable staples where prediction works. Users can set minimum-on-hand thresholds, preferred brands, and acceptable substitutes. The app flags shrinkflation/price jumps and suggests cheaper equivalents. It’s built to be boring, fast, and accurate enough to save time and prevent emergency trips.
