StepSignal

StepSignal is a mobile + web app that gives riders with mobility needs a brutally practical answer: “Can I complete this trip today without getting stranded?” It aggregates elevator/escalator outages, broken ramps, platform gaps, and stop-level accessibility notes into a single reliability score per station and per route. The core is crowdsourcing with verification: riders submit quick reports (photo + timestamp), and the system cross-checks against agency alerts and repeat confirmations. The app then suggests the safest alternative (nearby accessible stations, bus bridges, or reroutes) and warns when a transfer is risky. This is not a generic trip planner; it’s an accessibility risk layer that can sit on top of existing transit apps. Monetization is realistic: B2B licensing to agencies/employers/universities, plus optional premium alerts for frequent riders.
