StormSponge

StormSponge is a mobile + web app that helps cities, HOAs, and property managers reduce localized flooding by identifying the highest-impact green infrastructure upgrades—rain gardens, permeable pavement, downspout disconnections, and tree pits—at the parcel and street level. Users drop pins on problem spots, attach photos, and log “nuisance flood” events that never make it into official datasets. The app combines public layers (elevation, impervious surface, soils, storm drain proximity, land use) with on-the-ground reports to generate a prioritized project list with rough cost ranges and expected runoff reduction. It also produces grant-ready exports (maps, before/after scenarios, maintenance checklists) so teams can actually get funding and execute. This is not a feel-good tracker; it’s a practical planning tool that turns scattered complaints into defensible, fundable projects.
