StraitSignal
StraitSignal is a web + mobile decision app that turns messy ocean-circulation model outputs into simple “go/no-go” windows for people who work on the water. Users pick a location (port approach, strait, wind farm lease, survey line), set vessel/gear limits (max cross-current, max shear, safe drift rate), and get time-binned risk scores with plain-language explanations. It pulls from public forecast models (e.g., HYCOM/CMEMS where available) and blends them with local tide/current stations when present, then highlights uncertainty instead of hiding it. This is not a consumer ocean-education toy; it’s a lightweight operations tool meant to reduce wasted mobilizations and near-misses. The MVP focuses on a handful of high-traffic chokepoints and expands coverage as data quality and user demand justify it.
